Ūravyah means belonging to Vaiśya (Merchant) class.

Ūravyah originates from "born out of ūru (thigh) of Brahman."

It is stated in the Yajurveda that:

“The brāhmaṇa was born out of the mouth of Brahman, kṣatriya out of arms, Vaiśya out of the thighs and śūdra out of the feet”.[2]
