Ekatāla literally means ‘of one tāla or span’.
As per Iconography[edit]
In iconography, this measure is used to prepare images of the lowest class of spirits and kabandhas (headless torsos).
As per Classical Musis[edit]
In classical Indian music, it is the name of a tāla or measure of time comprising 12 mātrās or instants of time divided into four equal parts. Each part consist of 3 mātrās. These mātrās are represented by such letters:
- Dhī
- Dhā
- Na
- Tṛka
- Etc.
In Instrument[edit]
These letters also indicate the places where that particular beat is to be struck on percussion instrument.
