nityasamsāri (‘the eternally transmigrating [jīva]’)
The Dvaita Vedānta of Madhva (A. D. 1238-1317) categorises the jīvas or individual souls into three groups:
muktiyogyas (those who are fit for liberation); nitya-samsārins (the eternally transmigrating ones); and the tamoyogyas (the damned ones).
The nityasamāris are sensuous beings who delight only in worldly values and feel no need for ethical or spiritual life. Hence they are forced to transmigrate eternally (nitya = eternally).
