Parameśvara literally means ‘the greatest Lord’.
Though the word refers to God as the supreme ruler of the universe, it is more commonly used to indicate Śiva, the third deity of the Trinity. The Viṣṇusahasranāma[1] too has used this term for Viṣṇu.
