Śāktāgamas Āgamas are a special class of Hindu religious literature devoted to the propa¬gation of the various sects centred round the cult-deities. They are generally clas¬sified into three groups viz., Śaivāgamas, Śāktāgamas and Vaiṣṇavāgamas, dealing with the three deities Siva, Śakti (or the Divine Mother, usually an aspect of Pārvati) and Viṣṇu. The Śāktāgamas are also called Tantras. See TANTRAS for details.
