Sarvamula literally means ‘essence or root of all scriptures’.

All the 37 works of Madhvācārya[1] exhibit a thorough unity of purpose. Each work serves as an interpretation of the others. Hence his immediate followers collected his works under a single title, the Sarvamula. They are generally divided into seven groups. They are:

  1. Gītāprasthāna
  2. Upaniṣat- prasthānaSutraprasthāna
  3. Rkprasthāna
  4. Itihāsa and Purāna
  5. Daśaprakaraṇas
  6. Tantrasāra
  7. Stotras
