Ālidhāsana

From Hindupedia, the Hindu Encyclopedia

By Swami Harshananda

Ālidhāsana is one of the āsanas described in literature that describe āsanas and/or yoga. This posture is usually adopted in war or aggression. In this posture the left leg is bent at the knee and the right leg straight but slanting at an angle to the back. It is considered a standing posture. Fierce aspects of Śiva like Andhakāsura-mardana-murti and of Viṣṇu like Narasiihha are shown in this posture.
