18. ūravyah: Vaiśya (Merchant) class. Synonym as per Amarakośa is Vaiśya. It is masculine. It is derived as “born out of ūru (thigh) of Brahman. It has been stated in the Yajurveda as: “The brāhmaṇa was born out of the mouth of Brahman, kṣatriya out of arms, Vaiśya out of the thighs and śūdra out of the feet” (31.11)
