aṃśuḥ (m) aṃśayati …………..| ray: light according to the Medinīkośa. The Dharaṇīkośa says it is ‘the street of courtesans’. Hemacandra says that the meaning is ‘the small parts of thread etc’. The Viśvaprakāśakośa says it means ‘a small part or the sun’. The other meanings of this word are – a particular sage, a part of a creeper plant, a part of the plant called ‘Somalatā’, a part of anything.
