aṃśukam (n). The word’s derivation is aṃśun …………..| the suffix is ‘ka’ or aṃśubhiḥ ………..| The suffix is ḍa. Cloth, thin cloth or the cloth used as the upper garment are the meanings according to Medinīkośa. Ramānātha, a commentator on the Amarakośa, says that the word means a white cloth. The Rājanighaṇṭu says it means ‘a lower garment’.
