prsadajya (‘speckled ghee’)

In Paśuyāgas (animal sacrifices) the pṛṣadājya is an important ingredient that is used to sprinkle over the heart of the animal immolated. It is actually a mixture of ājya or ghee sprinkled with curdled milk.

The details of its preparation and use are generally dealt with in the Srautasutras (vide Apastamba Srautasutras 7.23.7; Baudhāyana Srautasutras 4.3).
