śamadisatka (‘the group of six [disciplines]’ starting with śama’)

This is the third of the four spiritual disciplines listed under sādhanacatuṣṭaya. It consists of the following six steps: śama (tranquillity); dama (self-control); uparati (cessation of external sense-organs from the pursuit of sense-objects); titikṣā (forbearance); śraddhā (faith) and samā-dhāna (concentration).
