A. Dirk Moses is an Anne and Bernard Spitzer Professor of International Relations at the City College of New York, CUNY[1], in 2021, he signed as a Frank Porter Graham Distinguished Professor of Global Human Rights History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill[2]. According to his university profile, his research focuses on modern Japanese and Jewish history, with a specialization in memory and cultural history.
He has published no books, papers, or research pertaining to Hindus, Hindutva, Hindu Nationalism, the Indian Government or India in general as of January 2023.
In 2021, he endorsed the "Dismantling Global Hindutva" conference and made the following allegations[3]:
- "Hindutva ideology or Hindu Nationalism is ... rooted in fascism"
- "Hindutva, the political philosophy of Hindu majoritarianism, is distinct from the religious practices of Hinduism"
- "[Hinduphobia is] a distraction “in the west to silence critiques of casteism, Islamophobia, sexism, anti-Semitism, racism, and other forms of supremacist ideologies at the heart of Hindutva.”"
- "the rise in power of Hindutva-aligned groups has led to a crackdown on all forms of democratic dissent and the intimidation and imprisonment of academics, journalists, human rights groups and activists"
