Donald Bloxham is Richard Pares Professor of History at Edinburgh University and Director of Edinburgh's Centre for the Study of the Two World Wars[1] as of June 2024. According to his university profile, his research interests are perpetration, punishment and representation/memory of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity, the Holocaust, the Armenian genocide, and the post-Second World War war crimes trials.
He has published no books, papers, or research pertaining to Hindus, Hindutva, Hindu Nationalism, the Indian Government or India in general as of January 2023.
In 2021, he endorsed the "Dismantling Global Hindutva" conference and made the following allegations[2]:
- "Hindutva ideology or Hindu Nationalism is ... rooted in fascism"
- "Hindutva, the political philosophy of Hindu majoritarianism, is distinct from the religious practices of Hinduism"
- "[Hinduphobia is] a distraction “in the west to silence critiques of casteism, Islamophobia, sexism, anti-Semitism, racism, and other forms of supremacist ideologies at the heart of Hindutva.”"
- "the rise in power of Hindutva-aligned groups has led to a crackdown on all forms of democratic dissent and the intimidation and imprisonment of academics, journalists, human rights groups and activists"
