Japa or repetition of Vedic mantras or passages is said to purify a person. One of such well-known passages is the Rudra or the Rudrādhyāya.[1] Since the Yajurveda has 102 śākhās or recensions and since this Rudra appears in all of them, it has been designated as Śatarudriya[2] also.
